ICBC AND OTHER PERSONAL INJURY CLAIMS

Hiring a lawyer can help you get a fair settlement in a reasonable time.   We deal with the insurance company so you don’t have to.  We know how to prove to them what your claim is worth.  When you are ready to settle, we will advise you on the right numbers and work hard to get you the justice you deserve.

Our fees are usually between 25% and 33 1/3% of the damages settlement we get for you.  The exact percent depends on complexity and when the claim settles.   We are paid out of the settlement.  You pay nothing until it settles.  Often we achieve successful settlements without the need for a trial.  But if ICBC will not pay a fair settlement, we take the case to trial, at no further charge to you.

We can send you to excellent medical specialists to assess your injuries and give recommendations.  We carry these costs for you until the case concludes.

We can also refer you to treatment practitioners and counselling so you can heal and recover.

Estate Litigation

In some cases we act on a contingency basis, meaning our fee is a percent of the ultimate settlement or judgment and the client pays nothing until the case concludes.   An example is a wills variation claim where we act for the disinherited child or spouse seeking to vary the will.  We are paid a percent of what we successfully recover for the client.

In other cases, e.g. when we represent an Executor or Defendant upholding a will, or our client is applying for a Committeeship of a disabled person, we act on an hourly rate basis.  Our hourly rate is $375.00 per hour plus tax and disbursements.  Sometimes our fee or part of it can later be recovered from the other side if you are successful, and we can explain this.
